Rita E. Lilienthal, 82, of 47C Highview Drive died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Adams on June 3, 1924, daughter of Peter and Mary Beaubien Gregoire, she was a 1942 graduate of the former Adams High School.
A longtime resident of Pittsfield, she had also resided in Cheshire and in Adams.
Mrs. Lilienthal was employed by the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District for 20 years, retiring in 1976 as executive secretary to the superintendent of schools.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a former communicant of Notre Dame Church in Adams.
She enjoyed needlepoint, doing crossword puzzles and reading.
She and her husband, Kenneth G. Lilienthal, were married in 1979.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Gregory C. Marone of Winter Haven, Fla.; three sisters, Rose Belisle of Adams, Helen Lord of Williamstown and Dot Lefebvre of Cheshire; a brother, Francis "Fritz" Gregoire of Lake Ranch, Fla., and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Rita E. Lilienthal, 82, of Pittsfield, who died June 25, 2006, will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield by the Rev. Lee Smith, chaplain at Berkshire Medical Center.
Burial will take place at a later date in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30, prior to the service at the funeral home. At Mrs. Lilienthal's request, she has arranged to have her body donated to the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester for medical education and research.
Rita also leaves six grandchildren, Patrick, Scott and Matthew Marone, and Paul, Joshua and Troy Lilienthal, with whom she loved to spend time; her daughter-in-law, Kristen A. Marone, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Albert Gregoire.
Donations in memory of Mrs. Lilienthal may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
