Arthur Waring "Skip" Paddock

Arthur Waring "Skip" Paddock, 79, of Holmes Road died Wednesday at home after a brief illness.
Born in Orange, N.J., on Aug. 7, 1926, son of Arthur H. and Helen Rochelle Paddock, he graduated from Colgate University in 1946 and his master's degree in education in 1965 from Springfield College.
He served in the Navy as a V12 candidate.
Mr. Paddock taught English at Pittsfield High School from 1966 to 1996.
He enjoyed reading, gardening, and repairing and rebinding damaged books. He was always pleased to see his "old students" on his errands around town.
He and his wife, the former Margot Hamilton Noyes, would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary July 26.
Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Carolyn Paddock of New York, Catherine Paddock of Menlo Park, Calif., Elizabeth Mitten of Minneapolis and Sarah Paddock of Amherst; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Blome of Crystal Lake, Ill., and two stepsons, Philip Jones of Fort Atkinson, Wis., and Cole Jones of Lee.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- There will be no calling hours for Arthur Waring "Skip" Paddock of Pittsfield, who died June 28, 2006, and burial will be private. A gathering for friends will take place at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
