Alejandro Villarroel

Alejandro Villarroel, 44, of San Francisco died Monday after a three-year battle with colon cancer.
His wife, the former Wanda Nichols, was born and raised in Pittsfield.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, on Nov. 25, 1961, son of Damaso Villarroel and Asencion Villaba de Villarroel, he moved to San Francisco in 1996 andbecame a U.S. citizen in 2002.
In 1991, he joined Cole & Weber, a subsidiary of WPP/PLC in Seattle as senior vice president of electronic publishing, where he designed Rodeo, an electronic production. Before that, he worked for a variety of Fortune 500 companies designing some of the first digital branding systems and Internet sites. He also spoke at numerous conferences and was recognized by Apple Computer's Worldwide New Media Forum.
In 2001, Mr. Villarroel founded World Food Travel, providing culinary adventure tours in Mexico.
He was a member of Direct Marketing Association's Digital Council. He enjoyed boating, fishing, entertaining and photography. He was a gourmet cook and a wine collector.
He and his wife were married April 22, 1992, in Seattle.
Besides his wife, he leaves two brothers, Armando Villarroel of Miami and Gustavo Villarroel of Puerta la Cruz, Venezuela, and a sister, Eneida Villarroel de Vera of Puerta la Cruz.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Alejandro Villarroel, husband of former Pittsfield resident Wanda Nichols, died Monday, July 10, 2006. A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, July 22, 2006, in San Francisco. A memorial celebration also is being planned in Seattle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dr. Suzanne Friedman Qigong for cancer research or to Sutter VNA & Hospice, both in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He also leaves his in-laws, Charles and Evelyn Nichols of Pittsfield.
