Janet K. Faubion, 85, of Haviland Drive, Glenville, N.Y., a former resident of Paisley Terrace in Pittsfield, died Saturday at home.
Born in Springfield on April 2, 1921, daughter of William W. and Myra Gaylord Kearsley, she grew up in Hudson and Albany, N.Y. She was a 1939 graduate of Albany High School and a 1942 graduate of the former Henry W. Bishop III Memorial School of Nursing.
An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, she served three years as a flight nurse. She flew the Aleutian chain of islands in Alaska and cared for soldiers wounded in the Pacific.
Before the war, she was employed by the former House of Mercy as a registered nurse. After the war, she was employed by Albany Medical Center and, later, by the former Pittsfield General Hospital. After her marriage, she became a homemaker.
While in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of St. Stephen's Church. She was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church in Scotia, N.Y.
Mrs. Faubion was a board member of the Visiting Nurse Association, and a member of the Queen's Fort and the Schenectady Garden Club, all in Schenectady, N.Y. She was a former member of St. George's Altar Guild and a former president of the Schenectady Animal Shelter.
Her husband, C. Bradford Faubion, whom she married Dec. 16, 1950, in Austin, Texas, died in 1977.
She leaves a son, William B. Faubion of Scotia, and a daughter, Sally Faubionof Albuquerque, N.M.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Janet K. Faubion will be held tomorrow, July 25, 2006, at 10 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 52 Sacandaga Road, Scotia, N.Y. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the service and may also call today from 5 to 8 at GLENVILLE FUNERAL HOME, 9 Glenridge Road, East Glenville, NY 12302.
Burial will be tomorrow at 1 with military honors at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871. Donations may be sent to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308, or to St. Andrew's Church, in memory of Janet K. Faubion.
She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Diane, a son-in-law, John, and threegrandchildren, Kristen, Kate and Bradford. Janet was a beloved mother and grandmother and the devoted wife of C.
