Elizabeth North Godfroy, 79, formerly of Route 20, New Lebanon, N.Y., died Wednesday at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, where she had been a resident for four years.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 4, 1926, daughter of the late George and Lucy Rice North, she was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School and the former Henry W. Bishop III Memorial School of Nursing in Pittsfield, becoming a registered nurse in 1948.
She later attended Russell Sage College and received a degree as a school nurse/ teacher in 1966.
She worked as a school nurse/ teacher for the New Lebanon Central School system from 1969 until retiring.
Prior to that, she worked as a private duty nurse. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Godfroy's Service Station in New Lebanon for many years.
Mrs. Godfroy was a member of the Church of Our Saviour in Lebanon Springs, N.Y.
She was a member of the Lebanon Valley Protective Association and the American Legion Auxiliary of the Floyd Carlton Post 1236 in New Lebanon, and also worked with Meals on Wheels in Columbia County, N.Y.
She enjoyed camping, knitting, crafts and showing antique cars.
Her husband, Louis E. Godfroy, Jr., whom she married in Richmond on Oct. 9, 1948, died on Jan. 26, 2004.
She leaves three daughters, Mary Young of New Lebanon, Patricia Woolley of Nassau, N.Y., and Julia Fazio of Webster, N.Y.; three sons, Louis Godfroy III and Edward Godfroy, both of New Lebanon, and Kenneth Godfroy of Lancaster, Pa.; a brother, Milton North of Lee; 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Our Saviour Friendship Memorial Fund or the LVPA in care of HALL & HIGGINS FUNERAL HOME, PO Box 9, Stephentown, NY 12168.
She leaves two sons-in-law, Stanley Woolley, John Fazio; a daughter-in-law, Linda (Edward) Godfroy; Kenneth's partner, James Hudson; two brothers-in-law, George Godfroy and Carl (Carolyn) Godfroy; 14 grandchildren, Shawn Maxfield, Michele (William) Kotek, Louis Godfroy IV, Jessica Godfroy, Emily Jennings, David Jennings, Kyle Godfroy; Caralee, Brianna, Amelia and Jeremiah Godfroy; Anthony, Joseph and Troy Fazio; two great-grandchildren, Cody Maxfield, Isabella Kotek, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Sue North of Lee.
