Esther Dorothy Bornak

Esther Dorothy Bornak, 91, of 25 Velma Ave., died Monday at Springside of Pittsfield, following a short illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 28, 1915, daughter of Andrew and Frieda Lubold Hermance, she graduated from Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Bornak was employed by several of the cafeterias in the Pittsfield School System before leaving to work in the sample department of Schaeffer-Eaton Paper Co. for 21 years.
She was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of its Esther Circle and a former member of its altar guild for 25 years.
She was also a member of the German-American Club of Berkshire County, RSVP at the Senior Center, and the Women's Club of the Berkshires, where she was elected Volunteer of the Year in 2006.
She and her husband, Rudolph P. Bornak, were married Dec. 31, 1936. He died Sept. 12, 1988.
She leaves a daughter, Martha C. Hathaway, of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service celebrating the life of Esther Bornak, who died Monday, July 31, 2006, will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 74 First St., Pittsfield, by the Rev. Dr. Peter D. Boehringer, pastor.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Memorial and Gift Fund at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220, is in charge of arrangements.
She also leaves two grandchildren, Rona Mitchell of Pittsfield and Andrew Hathaway of Oneonta, N.Y.; five great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, Clarissa, Sawyer and Alton Mitchell and Treyton and Brent Hathaway, and her beloved companion, her dog, Angel.
