Joseph Henry Fortini Sr.

Joseph Henry Fortini Sr., 72, of 4693 Orange Grove Blvd., North Fort Myers, Fla., a longtime resident of Pittsfield, died Tuesday at Southwest Regional Hospital in Fort Myers after a long illness.

Born in Pittsfield on June 5, 1934, son of Joseph J. and Marie Eva Baribeau Fortini, he attended local schools.

He served in the Air Force.

Mr. Fortini was a supervisor at Ohio Medical Products in Tice, Fla., from 1972 until his retirement in 1977 because of ill health. In Pittsfield, he was a supervisor at the former Elmvale Worsted Co. from 1961 to 1969.

He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church in Fort Myers and a former communicant of Mount Carmel Church.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10127; Fraternal Order of Eagles Nest 4270; American Veterans Post 81, where he was a commander for two years, and American Legion Post 336, all in North Fort Myers.

He and his wife, the former Dolores A. Parzick, were married at Holy Family Church on June 1, 1957.

Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, James J. Fortini of Lusby, Md., John S. Fortini of North Fort Myers, and Joseph H. Fortini Jr. and Stephen A. Fortini, both of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; two daughters, Linda M. Mandich and Kathy M. Fortini-Carroll, both of Cape Coral, Fla., and 13 grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph H. Fortini Sr., who died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, will be Wednesday at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at All Souls' Church celebrated by the Rev. Paul Burns, CSS. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of North Fort Myers, Fla., in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Mr. Fortini leaves two daughters-in-law, Brooke and Tiffany Fortini; a son-in-law, Michael Mandich; his 13 beloved grandchildren, Michelle, Kristen and Lori Mandich, Nathalie and Brittney Fortini, Makalyn Schuck, Michael and Brayden Fortini, Cody Carroll, Colton, Ethan and Tre Fortini, and John Michael Fortini, and several nieces and nephews.
