James Michael Paone, 83, of 94 Elaine Drive, formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., died yesterday at the home of his sister, Angelica Marinaro, with whom he had resided since January 2005.
Born in East Orange, N.J., on Jan. 3, 1923, son of Frank and Rose Agneta Paone, he graduated from high school in New Jersey.
He served in the New Jersey State Guard.
Mr. Paone was employed by the state of New Jersey as a boilerman-fireman for 42 years. He also worked part time in a fish and tackle store.
He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., and enjoyed stamp collecting, fishing and visiting the casinos.
He leaves his sister.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- James Michael Paone, who died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, leaves his sister, Angelica Marinaro, and his nephews, Vincent Marinaro and Francis Marinaro, all of Pittsfield, Francis Preite of Westfield, N.J., and Dominic Preite of Clark, N.J. He was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Preite.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Paone will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 21, at noon at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will be Tuesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Bloomfield, N.J. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Aug. 20, from 4 to 6 at DERY FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Paone may be made to St. Peter's Church in Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., or to Sacred Heart Church, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
