Benjamin Rosen

Benjamin Rosen, 87, of 144 Francis Ave., died yesterday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Born in Pittsfield on June 24, 1919, son of Abraham and Annie Fatt Rosen, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Rosen was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Medical Detachment 698th Field Artillery as a surgical technician in the European theater.

He was a member of Knesset Israel and a former member of Ahavath Sholem. He enjoyed watching sports and reading.

He leaves a brother, Abraham Rosen, with whom he made his home, and a sister, Alice Kaplan of Hallandale, Fla.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for Benjamin Rosen, who died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, will be held Thursday at 9 a.m., at Ahavath Sholem Cemetery, Pittsfield, with Rabbi David Greenspoon, Spiritual Leader of Knesset Israel Synagogue officiating.

He also leaves two nephews, Michael Rosen of Teaneck, N.J., and Alan Rosen of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by three brothers, Harry, Morris and Philip Rosen, and a sister, Freida Rosen.

He enjoyed spending time with his family. DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
