Irene Theresa Wojtkowski, 75, of 1565 West Housatonic St. died yesterday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided since December.
Born in Adams on July 5, 1931, daughter of Albert and Sophie Filip Zajchowski, she was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where she was involved in sports.
Mrs. Wojtkowski was a homemaker.
At various times, she was employed outside the home, including at General Electric Co., Greylock Plastics, Brett-Forer and at Berkshire Medical Center, where she worked for eight years as a housekeeper.
She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and a longtime member of Holy Family Church.
She was a Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed other sports and fishing.
She and her husband, Zigmund A. Wojtkowski, were married Nov. 15, 1958, at Holy Family Church by the Rev. Ladislaus A. Rys.
Besides her husband, she leaves four sons, Anthony Wojtkowski of Bartlett, Ill., Albert Wojtkowski and Andrew Wojtkowski, both of Hancock, and Richard Wojtkowski of Richmond; two daughters, Linda Plant of Pittsfield and Christine Dicicco of Dunstable; her twin sister, Eileen Maluda of Pittsfield, and 12 grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Irene Theresa Wojtkowski, who died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, will be Saturday, Aug. 26, at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Wojtkowski may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mrs. Wojtkowski was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Zajchowski.
