Patrick H. Mathews

Patrick H. Mathews, 82, of Fabiano Boulevard in Greensport, formerly of Pittsfield, died Thursday at Community Hospice Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
Born in Pittsfield on March 17, 1924, son of George and Catherine Doyle Mathews, he completed his formal high school and college education in the local schools.
He moved to Hudson in 1951 with his wife.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he obtained the rank of sergeant in his anti-aircraft halftrack battalion.
He was employed by Hudson City Savings Bank in business development until his retirement. Prior to that, he worked for the Bankers Trust as one of their retail managers. Previously, he was employed by First National Grocery Store in Hudson at the manager for over 20 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Hudson, a member of the Hudson Rotary, and a member of the Greenport Historical Society.
He and his wife, the former Rose C. Doonan, were married for almost 55 years. She died May 21, 2006.
Mr. Mathews leaves his daughter, Susan Prezioso of Fairport, Monroe County, N.Y.; a son, Shaun Mathews of Simsbury, Conn.; and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Patrick Mathews, who died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, at BATES & ANDERSON-REDMOND & KEELER FUNERAL HOME, 110 Green St., Hudson, N.Y., A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 28, at St. Mary's Church, 429 East Allen St., Hudson. Attendees are requested to wear green.
Internment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield, MA 01201. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital, 71 Prospect Ave., Hudson, NY 12534.
He also leaves a son-in-law, Anthony; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen; five grandchildren, Kevin, Mathew, Alison, Christopher and Mark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, George, Huck, Dick and Vin; and a sister, Florence.
