Marceline T. Lanoue

Marceline T. Lanoue, 78, of 14 Joan Drive died Saturday at home.

Born in Rensselaer, N.Y., on Oct. 11, 1927, daughter of Edward and Albina Soulier West, she lived in Cummington as a child, and attended schools in North Adams.

She was a 1946 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School.

She was employed for 15 years by the former Underledge Inn in Lenox as an innkeeper. Later, she cared for the elderly for 10 years in private home care and assisted living.

She was a member of the Grace Church Congregational.

Her husband, Joseph E. "Ernie" Lanoue, died Jan. 13, 2006. They were married June 17, 1950.

She leaves four sons, David Lanoue of Stockbridge, Thomas Lanoue of Great Barrington, Joseph Lanoue of Lenox Dale and Marc Lanoue of Pittsfield; three daughters, Debra Kiely of Pittsfield, Jennifer Kirchner of Pittsfield and Jeanne Priest of Arraial do Cabo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; three sisters, Claire Thorne of Franklin, N.C., Joan Lillie of Dalton and Maryrose Snyder of Universal City, Texas; 25 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Mrs. Marceline T. Lanoue, who died Saturday, Sept. 2, will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Lenox, 6 Holmes Road, Lenox, with the Rev. Thomas E. Bridgman, pastor of the Grace Church Congregational of Pittsfield officiating.

Burial will follow in the family plot in Mountain View Cemetery, Lenox. Calling hours at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, will be Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers, if so desired, may be made to Grace Church Congregational in care of the funeral home.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Richard West. She was an accomplished gardener, seamstress and hostess. Mom loved God and her neighbor as herself.
