Joseph W. Izzo, 49, of 360 West Housatonic St. died Thursdayat home.
Born in Pittsfield on May 4, 1957, son of Joseph A. and Anne Mullen Izzo, he was a 1975 graduate of Taconic High School, where he was a member of the baseball team.
He served in the Marine Corps from November 1976 to January 1981 as a military policeman at Camp Lejeune, N.C. In the Marine Corps he played baseball and softball.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the United Veterans of America.
As a youth, he played Little League and Babe Ruth League baseball. He was a Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and enjoyed music and cooking.
Besides his parents, he leaves two sisters, Carol Kearns and Patricia Monti, both of Pittsfield, and three brothers, John Izzo, Robert Izzo and James Izzo, all of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph W. Izzo, who died Aug. 31, 2006, will be Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at 9 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday Sept. 4, from 4 to 7. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America, in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Beloved brother-in-law to Rick Monti, David Kearns and Wanda Izzo; uncle to Colleen Harte, Kellie and Tricia Allen, and Chris and Michael Kearns, and great-uncle to Conner and Kaylee Kearns, and Jake Harte. He also will be fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles and cousins.
