Nizio Nugai

Nizio Nugai, 75, formerly of 348 Newell St., died Tuesday at Hillcrest Commons, where he resided since September 2004.
Born in Pittsfield on April 23, 1921, son of Sebastian and Adelaide Vittina Nugai, he attended Pittsfield schools.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and saw overseas combat, served in the European Theatre and received several medals and campaign ribbons.
He was employed part-time for Hart Construction Co. of Williamstown.
Prior to that, he was employed by Petricca Construction Co. for 18 years and Virgilio Construction Co. for 19 years.
Mr. Nugai was a communicant of All Souls' Church.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9566 of Dalton and American Legion Post 68 of Pittsfield. He was a former member of the Lakewood Sportsman's Club of Pittsfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
His wife, the former Viola K. Sartori, whom he married Sept. 2, 1950, died on Oct. 10, 1997.
He leaves a sister, Marcella Icardi of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral Services for Nizio Nugai, who died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, will take place Friday, Sept. 8, at 8:30 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at All Soul's Church with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker CSS, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Souls' Church in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Nugai also leaves nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Nellie MacDowell, Teresa Lazzari, Norma Walcott and Margaret Astore, and two brothers, Charles Nugai and John Nugai.
