Eileen E. Rozon, 78, of 625 Lakeway Drive died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., on April 4, 1928, daughter of William and Evelyn Campbell Carrigan, she moved to Pittsfield at a young age and was a 1945 graduate of St. Joseph's High School and a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College.
Mrs. Rozon was employed by Berkshire Life Insurance Co. as a proofreader and secretary for 32 years, retiring in 1992. Before that, she worked at City Hall in the tax department and at the former Pittsfield General Hospital.
She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church, and enjoyed being on Onota Lake.
She and her husband, Pittsfield Police Sgt. Robert J. Rozon, were married Oct. 7, 1950. He died Nov. 27, 2003.
She leaves three daughters, Judith A. Rozon, Sally E. McCarty and Nancy L. Prendergast, all of Pittsfield; three brothers, James Carrigan and William Carrigan, both of Pittsfield, and Richard Carrigan of North Adams; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Eileen E. Rozon died in Pittsfield on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006. Beloved grandmother to Christina Cormier, Meaghan Prendergast, Brian McCarty and Katie McCarty, and great-grandmother to Amber Bassett. She will be greatly missed by her son-in-law, Mark McCarty, her sisters-in-law, and her nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered as a lovely lady who was admired, respected and loved by all who knew her. The funeral will be Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 9 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Callling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, Sept. 11, from 4 to 7. If friends desire, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral home in her memory.
Mrs. Rozon was predeceased by her brother, John Carrigan. She also leaves her beloved dog, Binky. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
