Virginia Beatrice Sacco

Virginia Beatrice Sacco, 89, formerly of 76 Turner Ave., died Wednesday at the home of her niece, Judith Sacco-Coleman of Overlook Drive in Sandwich, where she had resided for the past year.

Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 23, 1916, daughter of Dominick and Carmella Pinyone Sacco, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1936 and from the former Berkshire Business College in 1937.

Miss Sacco was employed by General Electric Co. from 1952 until her retirement from the ordnance division in 1991.

She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs.

She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, gardening and traveling.

Besides her niece, she leaves a brother, retired Judge Rudolph A. Sacco of the town of Washington.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Miss Virginia Beatrice Sacco, who died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, will be Monday, Sept. 11, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Sept. 10, from 4 to 7. She also leaves five other nieces, Cami Kinahan of Chapel Hill, N.C., Carolyn Scannell of Munson, Cathi Rylands of Headcorn, Kent, England, Dr. Dianne Sacco-Chandler of Milton and Alycia Sacco-Duquette of Pittsfield; three nephews, Dominick C. Sacco of Pittsfield, Domenick F. Sacco of Dalton, and Robert C. Sacco of Westfield; a nephew-in-law, Randy Coleman, with whom she resided, and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn T. Sacco; by three brothers, Carlo Sacco in infancy, and Felice D. and Carmen W. Sacco; a niece, Virginia A. Sacco-Love, and a nephew, Rudolph A. "Randy" Sacco. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rudolph "Randy" Sacco Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
