Irma M. Derivan

Irma M. Derivan, 95, formerly of Highview Drive, died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons, where she has resided since August 1996.
Born in the town of Florida on Dec. 15, 1910, daughter of Joseph and Antonia Valenti Mazelli, she attended schools in Wilmington, Vt., and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1929.
She later graduated from the former Bay Path Institute in Springfield in 1931.
She was employed as a secretary for the E. J. Roberts Auto Agency in Jacksonville, Vt., for a brief time. She moved to Pittsfield in 1934 and was employed by the General Electric Co. for 31 years in the plastics department and later in the main plant, retiring from the main plant in 1966.
Mrs. Derivan was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs and a former member of the Women's Club of Pittsfield.
She enjoyed traveling and reading.
Her husband, Edward J. Derivan, whom she married Sept. 21, 1943, died Aug. 4, 1964.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private graveside services and burial for Irma M. Derivan, who died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, will take place at the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
She leaves a nephew, John E. Haakenson Jr. of Cumberland, R.I.; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Mazelli of Pittsfield and Thelma Mazelli of Tampa, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary L. Haakenson, and four brothers, Rudolph Mazelli, Mario G. Mazelli, Reno Mazelli, Henry Mazelli.
