Stella W. Russo, 81, of 49 Peck's Road died Friday at home after a long illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 16, 1925, daughter of Konstanty "Gus" and Pauline Koziol Gromacki, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Russo was employed by the former McKenzie Plastics for more than 10 years, retiring in 1980 as a supervisor. She also worked at the former Elmvale Worsted Mill.
She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to Foxwoods and, in her earlier years, bowling.
Her husband, Anthony G. Russo, whom she married at Holy Family Church on Oct. 8, 1945, died Jan. 14, 2003.
She leaves a daughter, Joanne M. Coe of Pittsfield; two brothers, William Gromacki of Pittsfield and Robert Gromacki of Dalton; two sisters, Jeanette Kushi and Laura Demick, both of Pittsfield; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Stella W. Gromacki Russo, who died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at home surrounded by her loving family, will be held Tuesday at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials in her name be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mrs. Russo also lovingly leaves her three grandchildren, Karen A. Sacco, Kathy L. Murphy and William A. Coe; her six adored great-grandchildren, Jordan, Anthony and Brandon Sacco, and Tyler, Brett and Nathan Murphy; her devoted son-in-law, William W. Coe; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Gromacki.
