June Calder, 91, of 63 Boylston St., a former longtime resident of Lenox Road, Richmond, died Saturday at home.
Born in East Hartford, Conn., on July 18, 1915, daughter of Arthur B. and Helen Baldwin Carley, she graduated in 1932 from the former Searles High School and attended the former Berkshire Business School.
Mrs. Calder was a longtime assistant to the headmaster of the former Stockbridge School on Route 183 in Stockbridge.
She was a communicant of the Church of Our Savior in New Lebanon, N.Y.
She enjoyed reading and music and wrote the words and music to "Chimes in the Rain." She spent many summers at her cottage in Five Islands, Maine, adjacent to Reid State Park.
She leaves two sons, Philip Calder of Monterey, Calif., and Jon Calder of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Marcia Calder-Cohen of Richmond and Pittsfield, with whom she resided; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for June Calder, who died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, surrounded by her beloved family and friends, will be held Friday, Sept. 29, at noon at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven, Conn., where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved parents.
The family will receive friends at their home on Boylston Street tomorrow, Sept. 28, from 5 to 8. Donations in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
