Joseph M. Blair

Joseph M. Blair, 68, of 201 Mohegan St. died yesterday at home after a long illness.

Born in Pittsfield on June 17, 1938, son of the late Milton and Elizabeth Russell Blair, he was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

A longtime resident of Pittsfield, he served in the Coast Guard Reserve.

Mr. Blair was a salesman for many years with Borden's, Gerber Baby Foods and Durkee Foods on the East Coast, retiring in 1995 because of ill health. He then worked as a part-time bus driver for Dufour Tours in the late 1990s.

He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and a member of the Berkshire County Harley Owners Group (HOG).

He enjoyed motorcycling and playing golf.

He and his wife, the former Jennie A. Kinnas, were married March 26, 1960, in St. John's Ukrainian Church in Pittsfield.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Joseph P. Blair and Michael J. Blair, both of Pittsfield, and Jeffrey T. Blair of Assonet; a brother, Thomas Blair of New Kent, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Brickle of Hinsdale and Judith Taylor of Pittsfield; and four grandchildren.

A daughter, Jennifer A. Blair, died in 1965.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph M. Blair, 68, of Pittsfield, who died Oct. 1, 2006, will be Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours for Mr. Blair will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. He also leaves four grandchildren, Stacy, Zachary, Jessica and Sarah Blair, and three daughters-in-law, Kathleen, Marie and Michelle Blair.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer A. Blair, in 1965 and by a brother, Russell Blair, late of Pittsfield. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
