Carol A. Dimaina Thompson, 62, of 17 Egremont Ave. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 31, 1943, daughter of the late John R. and Matilda Banus Villanova, she was a 1961 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1982 graduate of the former North Adams State College, where she received a bachelor's degree in biology.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Thompson was a foster parent with the Department of Social Services. She worked at one time as an operator at Alarms of Berkshire County in the late 1980s, and before that, was employed in cytotechnology labs in the Albany area.
She was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed traveling and camping.
She and her husband, Stephen Q.Thompson, celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary June 8.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Laurie J. Herrick of Pittsfield; a son, James D. DiMaina of the state of Florida; two stepdaughters, Nicole Hosier of Pittsfield and Kelly Campbell of West Babylon, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- At her request, there will be no services or calling hours for Carole A. Thompson, who died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006. Following cremation, burial will be private.
She was predeceased by a brother, William "Bill" Main, in 2005. DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, is in charge of arrangements.
