Mary Ilene Wright, 92, died Monday at Berkshire Place, where she had resided since 2000.
She had lived in Bristol, Vt., from 1929 to 1998.
Born on Oct. 28, 1913, in Bristol, Vt., daughter of Francis S. and Anna Hines Hannon, she attended Bristol Public School, graduating from Bristol High School with the Class of 1931.
She then attended the former Castleton Normal School in the two-year teacher preparedness program, graduating in 1933. Later, she earned the equivalent of a bachelor's degree in education at a program sponsored by the Vermont Education Department.
Mrs. Wright was employed by the Bristol Elementary and Junior High School as a teacher for more than 35 years and retired from the Mountain Street Elementary School in 1975. After retiring from teaching, she worked for several years as a guide at the Shelburne Museum.
She was longtime member of the St. Ambrose Parish in Bristol.
She was also a participant in other local community organizations and activities.
She and her husband, Wayland G. Wright, were married for 33 years. He died in 1968.
She leaves two sons, Gordon Wright of Berwyn, Pa., and Richard Wright of Rutland, Vt.; two daughters, Anne Russo of Pittsfield and Maureen Houstle of Brockton; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ilene Wright, who died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol. Interment will be in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.
Friends may call at BROWN-MCCLAY FUNERAL HOME in Bristol on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to St. Ambrose Church, Bristol, Vt., 05443 or Berkshire Place, 89 South Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201 or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601-7633. She also leaves two sons-in-law, James and John; two daughters-in-law, Margaret and Carol; a brother-in-law, William Wright of Portland, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Hannon, and sister, Margaret Hickey.
