Helen King Perron

Helen King Perron, 89, of Berkshiretown Apartments, 176 Columbus Ave., died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Berlin, N.Y., on April 19, 1917, daughter of Charles E. and Mabel Shortsleeve Lear, she attended schools in Pittsfield.

For many years after she was married and while she was raising her family, she was employed as a housekeeper by several area families.

Mrs. Perron was a member of the Berkshire Full Gospel Church.

She was also an active member of the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center and the Golden Seniors, and served on the senior ball and senior parade committees.

She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren, and playing cards and bingo.

Her first husband, Raymond J. King, died March 18, 1977.

Her second husband, Kenneth Perron, died Jan. 20, 1988.

She leaves three sons, Richard King of East Hampton, Conn., and Robert King and Ronald King, both of Pittsfield; four daughters, Shirley Scace and Nancy LaMari, both of Pittsfield, Sally Gabriele of Clearwater, Fla., and Doreen Sweet of Becket; a stepdaughter, Barbara Raymakkers of Westfield; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchilden.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Helen Lear King Perron, who died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, were held Tuesday, Oct. 10, at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Phyllis Hostetter, pastor of Berkshire Full Gospel Church, officiating.

Burial was in Pittsfield Cemetery. It was Mrs. Perron's wish that services should be private. She also requested that memorial contributions be made to Berkshire Full Gospel Church or to a charity of one's choice in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Mrs. Perron also leaves three daughters-in-law, Chris King and Judi King, both of Pittsfield, and Sandi Gaitano of Connecticut; and three sons-in-law, Art Gabriele, Robert Sweet, and Rick LaMari.
