Marjorie L. Bruno, 63, of 39 Eric Drive died Sunday morning at her home, where she had resided for the past 33 years.
Born in Dalton on Aug. 27, 1943, daughter of Edward and Ethel Beals Flynn, she graduated from Wahconah Regional High School in 1961.
She then attended the Henry W. Bishop School of Nursing, graduating in 1965, and later earned a bachelor's degree in social work from the former North Adams State College in 1983.
A Vietnam War veteran, she served as a second lieutenant with the Air Force from September 1967 to May 1968.
She was employed by Berkshire Medical Center as a psychiatric nurse in its Jones Unit, retiring in 2000 after 30 years of service. She had also worked in social services, where she started the adult foster care program.
She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Dalton. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and the beach.
She leaves her husband, Frank R. Bruno, whom she married on Aug. 27, 1966, at St. Agnes Church.
Also, she leaves three daughters, Erin M. Bruno of Bloomfield, N.J., Patricia L. Cooper of Pittsfield and Tracy E. Bruno of Pittsfield; a sister, Rosemarie Flynn of Pittsfield; and a grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Marjorie L. Bruno, who died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, will be Thursday, Oct. 19, at 10:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Dalton, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor of Sacred Heart Church.
Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Bruno enjoyed being with her family and friends, and also leaves her son-in-law, Matthew S. Cooper, and a grandson, Jacob M. Cooper. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Bruno may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Center Coalition, 500 NE Spanish River Boulevard, Suite 8, Boca Raton, FL 33431.
