Paul C. Williams, 81, of Hanover, Pa., died peacefully Sunday at his home following a lengthy illness.
His son, Theodore "Ted" Williams, lives in Pittsfield.
Born on Sept. 3, 1925, in Codorus Township, Pa., son of Chester and Bessie Shue Williams, he was a 1944 graduate of the former Codorus Township High School.
A World War II Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific theater as a watertender, third class, from March 28, 1944, until May 28, 1946.
He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion of Hanover, AMVETS, the USS Wickes Association, and the LST 339 Association.
He was employed for 42 years as a foundry molder for R.H. Sheppard of Hanover, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Virginia M. Cramer Williams of Hanover.
Besides his wife and his son, he leaves three sons, Timothy "Tim" Williams of Eagleville, Pa., Lee Williams of Philadelphia and Mark Williams of Hanover; a daughter, Paula Miller of Culpeper, Va.; a brother, Lloyd Williams of Shrewsbury, Pa.; two sisters, Arlene Thoman of Glen Rock, Pa., and June Kress of Hanover; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by an infant son.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Paul C. Williams, who died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 127 York St., Hanover, with the Rev. Timothy Kielley officiating.
Burial will be in St. Jacob's "Stone" Church Cemetery, Glenville, with military honors given by Hanover Veteran Honor Guard. A visitation with family and friends will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 127 York St., Hanover, PA 17331 or and VNA Hospice of Hanover, 440 North Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.
He also leaves two daughters-in-law, Beth (Tim) Williams and Dorothy Mara (Ted); a son-in-law, Jeff Miller; and five grandchildren, Meghan and Kyle Williams, Nathan Miller, and Andrew and Bridget Mara-Williams. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leroy Williams and Earnest Sterner. Mr. Williams loved his church, his family, his friends and his life.
