Evelyn L. Coates, 83, of 83 Michael Drive, formerly of Ridgefield, Conn., died Tuesday at her home.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 17, 1923, daughter of George L. and Mary Maestri Castignoli, she attended New York schools.
A resident of Ridgefield from 1968 to 1998, she resided in Pittsfield for the past six years.
Mrs. Coates was a homemaker for most of her life.
She was a former member of St. Mary's Parish of Ridgefield.
She was the widow of Joseph Coates.
She leaves a son, Joseph J. Coates of Washington; a daughter, Eileen Clinton of Dove Canyon, Calif.; a sister, Mildred Taylor of Lee; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn L. Coates, who died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield, Conn. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions in Mrs. Coates' memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897.
