Carlo P. Quaglietti

Carlo P. Quaglietti, 92, of Melbourne Place, 140 Melbourne Road, formerly of 32 Highview Drive, died Sunday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.

Born in Pittsfield on May 1, 1914, son of Melfino Quaglietti Sr. and Palmina Cacciagrano Quaglietti, he attended Pittsfield schools.

Mr. Quaglietti was employed by General Electric Co. for 40 years, retiring Aug. 31, 1976, from the power transformer department.

He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Holy Name Society, and a member of the GE Quarter-Century and Pensioners' clubs, the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center, the Golden-Agers, and Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening, dancing and traveling.

His first wife, the former Iole Barbalunga, whom he married June 29, 1940, died March 2, 1971.

He and his wife, the former Dorothy Smith LaVigne, were married March 16, 1979, at All Souls' Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Joan P. Infante of Pittsfield; two stepsons, Robert A. LaVigne of Winooski, Vt., and Bradley T. LaVigne of Williston, Vt.; a brother, Rocco A. Quaglietti of Pittsfield; two sisters, Lucia Montini and Mary Goodrich, both of Pittsfield; five stepgrandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Johnson Gabaldon in December 1998, and by a stepson, Mark D. LaVigne, on May 30, 2003.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Carlo P. Quaglietti, who died Oct. 29, 2006, will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at 11 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME will be Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

He also leaves a son-in-law, Ernest Infante; five step-grandchildren, Christopher, Sunny and Sarah J. LaVigne, Cheryl Reed and Crystal DiLeo; two step-great-grandchildren, Shane and Jared Reed, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Dante J., Alexander A., Peter J. and Melfino Quaglietti Jr., and by a sister, Carmelina H. DiNicola.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
