Margaret "Dolly" Mendel Meyers, 90, formerly of 17 Dorchester Ave. died Wednesday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 10, 1915, daughter of Fred and Corda Mendel Goetze, she was a 1934 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She resided in Pittsfield all her life, except for the period of 1955 to 1966 when she and her husband resided in Glens Falls, N.Y.
Mrs. Meyers was confirmed in the Lutheran Church.
Primarily a homemaker, she was employed at General Electric in the payroll department prior to her marriage.
Mrs. Meyers was active in the Stanley Club for many years, and was a lifelong Red Sox fan.
Her husband, Russell E. Meyers, whom she married May 1, 1937, died Jan. 27, 1971.
She leaves two sisters, Eleanor Collins and Nanette Bugnacki, both of Pittsfield.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Ann Meyers Crannell, who died March 19, 1962.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret "Dolly" M. Meyers, who died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Pittsfield Cemetery.
Donations may be made to Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., where her daughter, Barbara, was a patient during her final illness, in care of WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Donald Collins of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews, including her caregiver, Wayne Collins of Pittsfield; and many cousins.
She was predeceased by two brothers, William Goetze, who died in 1944, and Joseph Goetze, who died in 1995.
