Joseph Harry Lester

Joseph Harry Lester, 88, of 1000 North St., Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on March 16, 1918, son of Harry A. and Myrtle Hickory Lester, he was educated in schools in Walden, N.Y.
An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served as a staff sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1945.
Mr. Lester was employed as an automobile technician and parts manager at Village Ford in Pine Bush, N.Y., and by its predecessor, East End Motors.
An accomplished guitarist, he had his own band for many years.
He and his wife, the former Elizabeth Rose Gunderman, were married March 15, 1942. She died Dec. 23, 1999.
He leaves a son, Edwin Harry Lester of Pittsfield; a daughter, Sami Strout of Pittsfield; and two granddaughters.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph Harry Lester, who died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, will be conducted Saturday at 1 at William Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, N.Y., by the Rev. Rob Hewitt.
Burial will follow in Brunswick Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
He also leaves his granddaughters, Quinn and Shelley Lester; his daughter-in-law, Susan Lester; his son-in-law, Michael Edward Strout, and many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law.
