Janet H. Nesbit, 92, of Berkshire Place died there yesterday.
She was a former longtime resident of 79 Lenox Ave.
Born in Pittsfield on June 4, 1914, daughter of Clifford E. and Julia Surette Nesbit, she was a 1932 graduate of Pittsfield High School and received her nursing degree from the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1935.
A registered nurse, Miss Nesbit was employed by the former Pittsfield General Hospital and its successor, Berkshire Medical Center, retiring in the early 1980s. Before that, she worked at St. Luke's did private duty nursing.
She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and a member of the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni and the Massachusetts Audubon Society. She enjoyed sewing and knitting.
She leaves a niece, Jennifer Shapp of Chicago.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Janet H. Nesbit, who died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, will be celebrated Monday at 11:30 at St. Charles' Church. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Massachusetts Audubon Society or the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She also leaves cousins, among them Jane Tobin, Timothy and Bridgett Nelligan, Timothy Nelligan Jr., William Prendergast Jr., and Donna and Gabe Prendergast.
