Elvera V. Samale

Elvera V. Samale, 83, of 1850 Bayshore Drive, Englewood, Fla., died Monday at Venice Regional Medical Center in Venice, Fla.

Born in Marlboro, on Nov. 28, 1922, a daughter of Angelo and Elizabeth Ripaldi Rizzelli, she attended Marlboro schools and graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester.

She also graduated from the Burdette Business School in Boston, earning an associate's degree.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for several years and was last employed as a bookkeeper for Samale's Pharmacy, retiring in 1986.

Mrs. Samale lived most of her life in Pittsfield and moved to Englewood in 1988.

While residing in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Ladies Guild.

She was the widow of Giro R. Samale, who died June 15, 1987. They were married on Aug. 5, 1945.

She leaves a son, G. Richard Samale of Englewood; a daughter, Gina M. Samale-Lawriw of Pittsfield; three sisters, Rose Silvestri of Dedham, Jane Danna of Rosilindale and Anna Duhaime of West Roxbury; and four grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Elvera V. Samale, who died on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 8 a.m., from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S., pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the family plot in Fairview Cemetery in Dalton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy Giro R. Samale Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.

She also leaves four grandchildren, Elisa L. Lawriw, Bo A. Lawriw, Ricky Samale and Christina Samale and son-in-law, Bodhan A. Lawriw and daughter-in-law, Carol Samale. She was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Smith and Maria Rizzelli.
