Priscilla Mary Ryan

Priscilla Mary Ryan, 81, of 19 Roselyn Drive died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center after six months of hospitalization.

Born in Pittsfield on March 16, 1925, daughter of Joseph B. and Charlotte Ano Gauvreau, she was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1947 graduate of the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, where she was president of her class.

Mrs. Ryan, a registered nurse, was employed by St. Luke's, by Berkshire Medical Center and by the former Hillcrest Hospital. She also did private-duty nursing.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking.

She and her husband, William D. Ryan, were married Aug. 12, 1950, at the former Notre Dame Church by her late brother, the Rev. Thomas H. Gauvreau.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Thomas M. Ryan of Nashua, N.H., Patrick M. Ryan of Williamstown and John M. Ryan of Pittsfield; a sister, Teresa Bushey of Pittsfield; and two grandsons.

A son, William M. Ryan, died in 1976.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Priscilla M. Ryan, who died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, will be Wednesday at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the William M. Ryan Scholarship Fund at St. Joseph's High School in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Ryan is lovingly survived by her two grandsons, William T. and John P. Ryan, and by several nieces and nephews. She also was predeceased by four brothers, Jerome, Paul, Bruno and the Rev. Tom Gauvreau, and by two sisters, Beatrice M. Gauvreau and Charlotte Perrotta.
