David F. Hart, 69, of 255 Lebanon Ave. died Sunday evening at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided for the past three years.
Born in Pittsfield on April 9, 1937, son of M. Evelyn Fallaw Hart and the late Winston L. Hart, he was educated in local schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Central High School and St. Francis Xavier College in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
He earned master's degrees from Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., and Middlebury Breadloaf School of English in Vermont. He continued his education with graduate work at Harvard and Duquesne University, were he was a teacher's assistant.
Mr. Hart taught at Quincy College in Illinois, Walsh College in Ohio and at the former Cranwell Preparatory School in Lenox.
He enjoyed literature, poetry and writing, and he was a photographer.
Besides his mother, formerly of Pittsfield, now of Clawson, Mich., he leaves three daughters, Erin Ballock of St. Louis, Kara Hart of Quincy, Ill., and Kristen Hart of Chicago; a brother, Thomas Hard of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sisters, Patricia H. Lal of Northborough and Anita L. Galloway of Pleasant Ridge, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The family of David Francis Hart, who died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, will remember him at a private memorial service in the spring of 2007.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
Mr. Hart also leaves his son-in-law, Brian Ballock; his grandchildren, Oliver and Sylvie; nephews, Scott, Tood Jyoti, Nishant, and Aiden; and a niece, Eliza.
