Ruth I. Melle

Ruth I. Melle, 79, of 68 Gale Ave. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 23, 1927, daughter of Roy Nash Sr. and Nellie Foster Nash, she was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Melle was employed by the former Eaton Paper Co. as a linotypist for many years. Following that, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Immanuel Community Church and of its choir and past president of its Ladies' Guild. She was also past president of the Christian Center. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and going to tag sales with her husband.
She and her husband, Joseph Melle, were married Feb. 1, 1947.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, David Melle of Windsor, and Douglas Melle and Dennis Melle, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Debra Melle of Pittsfield; a brother Malcolm Nash of Kennebunkport, Maine; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ruth I. Melle, who died Dec. 21, 2006, will be conducted Saturday at 10 at Immanuel Community Church by the Rev. John Cunningham, pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be tomorrow at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 7. Donations in her memory may be made to Immanuel Community Church, in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Linda. Two sisters, Virginia Dow and Olive Guerin, and two brothers, Paul Nash and Roy Nash Jr., are deceased.
