Susan T. Dimanche

Susan T. Dimanche, 61, of 82 Wilson St. died yesterday at home after a long battle with cancer.

She was the owner and operator of Chipper Clipper Beauty Shop in Dalton.

Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 9, 1945, daughter of James A. and Eileen Bradley Winters, she was a 1962 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School and a 1964 graduate of the former LaBaron Hairdressing Academy.

She moved to Pittsfield in 1981.

Mrs. Dimanche operated her beauty salon for 24 years.

A communicant of St. Agnes' Church in Dalton, she was lead singer in the church choir and sang for weddings and funerals.

She also had her own country and western group, the Sue Winters Round Up Band, for 12 years and released a CD in November called "Sue Winters Dimanche and Friends -- Uplifted." She enjoyed traveling, camping and swimming.

She and her husband, Ronald C. Dimanche of Pittsfield, were married Oct. 2, 1983, at St. Agnes' Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Fay A. Dimanche of Dalton; two stepdaughters, Trina Levesque of Hinsdale and Melissa Hubbard of Pittsfield; a stepson, Stephen Haggerty of Springfield; a sister, Patricia LaCroix of Lanesborough; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Susan T. Dimanche, who died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, will be Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 9:15 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Agnes' Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home, 890 Main St., Dalton. Sue also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Cristy and Bryan Raney, Alicya and Haley Hubbard, Cameron Haggerty and Rechael Valentine; her great-granddaughter, Hope; her brother-in-law, Tom LaCroix; and her niece, Linda L. Trudel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sue's memory may be made to St. Agnes' Church or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home.
