PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Clara Ann Rivers, 90, of 7 Ash Lane died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 29, 1915, daughter of Albert and Amanda Lajeuness Blair, she graduated from Drury High School.
Mrs. Rivers was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church, and enjoyed walking and being active with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Edward L. Rivers, whom she married Dec. 26, 1938, died Jan. 30, 2000.
Mrs. Rivers leaves four sons, Dennis E. Rivers of Lee, Kenneth W. Rivers of Windsor, Jonathan V. Rivers of Middlefield and Kevin L. Rivers of Pittsfield; a daughter, Sandra A. Barzowskas of Pittsfield; a sister, Lena Pitman of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rivers was predeceased by six brothers, Robert, Leo, Arthur, Theodore, Victor and Dennis Blair, and three sisters, Bella Roy, Sylvia Blair and Helen Hervieux.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Rivers, who will be Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from Dery Funeral Home. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Rivers may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
