R. Jack Kelly

R. Jack Kelly, 78, of 531 West St. died Friday at Hillcrest Commons Heath Care Facility, where he had resided for two weeks.

He was the owner of Berkshire Hearing Aid Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 10, 1928, son of George T. Kelly Sr. and Daisy Wixon Kelly, he was a 1946 graduate of Pittsfield High School and took courses from the National Hearing Aid Society.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Kelly operated Kelly's Restaurant on Linden Street for five years. He later was manager of the Berkshire division of New England Home Food Service Co. A board-certified hearing specialist, Mr. Kelly operated his the hearing-aid center for 40 years.

He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and a former chairman of the Pittsfield Noise Control Commission.

He also was a former member of the board of governors of the Irish-American Organization of Berkshire County.

He and his wife, the former Bette C. Wilson, were married Aug. 22, 1953, in Maryland.

He leave a son, Terrence P. Kelly of Pittsfield; two stepdaughters, Lynda Norman of Manlius, N.Y., and Dale Chichetto of Winter Haven, Fla.; two brothers, George T. Kelly Jr. of Utica, N.Y., and Donald F. Kelly of Venus, Fla.; a sister, Kathleen Davis of Henderson, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. R. Jack Kelly, a longtime hearing specialist in Pittsfield, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. He was a loving grandfather to Mark, Peter, John and Luke Chichetto, to Benjamin and Justin Norman, and to Nicole Kelly.

A private funeral will be conducted Friday at 1 at DWYER FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church. Burial will follow in West Stockbridge Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., in his memory. Mr. Kelly was predeceased by two brothers, Michael in 1965 and Allen in 2006.
