Shirley Edna Curry, 81, formerly of 247 Harryel St., died yesterday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided since May 12, 2004.
Born in Montville, Calif., on July 19, 1925, daughter of Napoleon and Edna LaBonte Bonville, she attended schools in Uncasville, Conn., and was a graduate of Norwich (Conn.) Free Academy.
Mrs. Curry was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a volunteer with the Grey Ladies at the former St. Luke's Hospital.
She enjoyed sports, reading and doing crossword puzzles and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics.
Her husband, Albert D. "Bud" Curry, whom she married July 31, 1943, died Sept. 24, 2005. They were involved for many years with the Boys' Club Cavaliers Drum Corps, helping with many fundraisers.
She leaves a son, Gary F. Curry of Pittsfield; a daughter, Mary E. Curry-Proskin of Dalton; two brothers, Napoleon Bonville of Beaufort, S.C., and Carroll Bonville of Torrington, Conn., and five grandsons.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Shirley E. Curry, who died Dec. 31, 2006, will be Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Jan. 2, from 4 to 6. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Curry is lovingly survived by her five grandsons, Matthew and Jeffrey Curry, Ryan Ricchi, and Daniel and David Proskin; by her son-in-law, Robert Proskin, and by her daughter-in-law, Claudia Austin Curry.
