Lucien J. Grandbois

Lucien J. Grandbois, 88, formerly of 221 Barker Road, died Saturday at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided since Nov. 30, 2001.
He owned and operated Liberty Court Motel in Hancock from 1956 to 1984.
Born in Burlington, Vt., on Oct. 18, 1918, son of Alfred and Laura Frenette Grandbois, he moved to Pittsfield as a child and was educated in local schools.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe.
Mr. Grandbois was employed by General Electric Co. as a machinist in the power transformer division for 40 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Lebanon, N.Y., and of the former Notre Dame Church.
He was a member of the Pittsfield Veterans of Foreign Wars and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, hunting and fishing and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
He and his wife, the former Shirley Keyes Clancy, were married Nov. 28, 1959. She died Jan. 6, 2002.
He leaves a brother, J. Roland Grandbois, and a sister, Yvonne Grandbois, both of Pittsfield. A daughter, Sharon Condron of New Lebanon, N.Y., died Oct. 6.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Lucien J. Grandbois, who died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, will be Wednesday at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Mr. Grandbois also leaves his son-law, John "Jack" Condron of New Lebanon, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and daughter, he was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. Donations in memory of Mr. Grandbois may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
