Edward Francis Genovese

Edward Francis Genovese, 97, formerly of 265 Fenn St. and Providence Court Apartments died Saturday at Providence Care Center of Lenox, where he had resided since March 2005.

Born in Pittsfield on May 19, 1909, son of Charles and Antoinette Bell Genovese, he attended local schools and was a 1928 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

He was also a graduate of Burdette College in Boston.

Mr. Genovese was employed by General Electric Co. for 32 years, retiring as a stock clerk on June 15, 1974.

He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church, a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, a member of the Ralph Froio Senior Center and a former member of the Elks Lodge of Pittsfield. He enjoyed playing cards.

His first wife, the former Marie Carnevale, died Jan. 14, 1959.

His wife, the former Anna M. Finelli, died March 9, 1997.

He leaves two daughters, Gloria T. Leavy and Annette J. Fallon, both of Pittsfield; two brothers, Louis Genovese of Longmeadow and William Genovese of the state of Florida; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Edward F. Genovese, who died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. It will be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker CSS, pastor.

Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in his memory be made to Mount Carmel Church.

Mr. Genovese is lovingly survived by his six grandchildren, Cynthia Feth, Cheryl Beckert, Colleen Leavy, Caron Quinn, Patrick Fallon and Maura Carty, and by his six adored great-grandchildren, Jonathan Feth, Thomas and Laurin Quinn, Thomas Fallon and Jack and Maighdlin Carty.

He also leaves two sons-in-law, William Leavy and Thomas Fallon.
