Rose F. Monteleone Giftos, 99, of 65 Columbus Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 8, 1908, daughter of Alexander and Katherine Duda Flossic, she was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and attended local schools.
She was a homemaker for most of her life.
Her first husband, Anthony J. Monteleone, died in 1952.
Her husband, George S. Giftos, died in 1985.
She leaves two daughters, Catherine A. Frieri and Nena M. Fidalgo, both of Pittsfield; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private graveside services for Rose Monteleone Giftos, who died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours at DWYER FUNERAL HOME, which is in charge of arrangements.
She also leaves two sons-in-law, Leo A. Frieri and Alfred S. Fidalgo, both of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by two sisters, Blanche Ricci and Stephanie McEneney, and by five brothers, Anthony, William, Frank, Stephen and Alexander Flossic.
A grandson, Anthony Frieri, died in 1971. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield.
