Leonard Hazen

Leonard Hazen, 88, father of Carol Hazen Cohen of Pittsfield, died Monday at Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I., following a brief illness.

Born on Dec. 2, 1918, in Pawtucket, R.I., son of Harry and Fanny Feiffer Hazen, he attended schools in Rhode Island.

Mr. Hazen was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was an entrepreneur and owner of the New York Furniture Co. in Pawtucket and the New Yorker Motor Lodge in East Providence, R.I.

He was a member of the Masons.

He attended Temple Emanuel in Providence.

His wife, the former Florence Glantz, whom he married on Jan. 19, 1940, is deceased.

Besides his daughter, he leaves a son, Michael Hazen of Long Island, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE-- The funeral of Leonard Hazen, who died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, was to be held today at Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel in Providence, R.I.

Burial followed in Lincoln Park Cemetery in Warwick, R.I. Memorial week will be observed at the home of his granddaughter Amy Bloom and her husband, Steven, at 54 Ingleside Ave., Cranston, R.I. Memorial gifts may go to Knesset Israel Congregation, 16 Colt Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
