Marie Anne Pouliot, 88, of 51 Gale Ave., died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in St. Gervais Province of Quebec, Canada, on July 26, 1918, daughter of Joseph and Marie Coté Nadeau, she was educated in schools there.
Mrs. Pouliot worked primarily as a homemaker, but had been a cook at St. Joseph's Church rectory in Springfield. She was an accomplished seamstress and also did private housekeeping.
She was a communicant of St. Mark Church, and had been a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church, where she was a longtime member of the Ladies of St. Anne.
She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Quilting Guild of South Congregational Church. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and canning.
Mrs. Pouliot leaves her husband, Alphonse A. Pouliot, whom she married on Jan. 30, 1956, at St. Joseph's Church in Springfield.
She also leaves three daughters, Ann C. Meskunas of Dennemora, N.Y., Denise P. Jester of Pittsfield and Lynne M. Furtado of Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Maurice Nadeau of St. Gervais and Lionel Nadeau of Montréal; four sisters, Gemma Langevin of Methuen, Rita Bilodeau and Aline Nadeau, both of Québec City, and Irene Carrier of Canada; and 10 grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marie Anne Pouliot, who died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, will be Friday, Jan. 26, at 9:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church, celebrated by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Pouliot also leaves three sons-in-law, Ted Meskunas, Kevin Jester and Mickey Furtado; and 10 grandchildren, Kate Tambone and her husband, Nick Tambone, Charlie, Peter and Sarah Meskunas, Emily, Eric and Kendel Jester, Rachel, Benjamin and Jade Furtado, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by six brothers. Everyone who was known and loved by Mrs. Pouliot has one of her quilts to remember her by.
