Freddie A. Strout Jr.

Freddie A. Strout Jr., 85, retired Pittsfield police officer and current resident of Bristol, Conn., died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn.
Born March 20, 1921, in Freeport, Maine, the son of Freddie A. Strout Sr. and Bernice Brown Strout, he attended Becket Schools.
He served in the Army during World War II with Merrill's Marauders.
Mr. Strout was employed by the Pittsfield Police Department for 27 years prior to his retirement in 1977. After moving to Bristol in 1986, he worked as a security guard for ESPN for seven years.
Mr. Strout leaves his wife, the former Mary J. Pare, whom he married January 30, 1982.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Craig, Gary and Brian Strout, all of Pittsfield; two stepsons, Michael Beers of Tracy, Calif., and Daniel Beers of Bristol; a stepdaughter, Laura Unwin of Bristol; a brother, Charles Strout of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and three sisters, Barbara Winn of Middlefield, Lorriane Broadhurst of Dalton and Stella Romano of Pittsfield; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Betty Card, and a daughter, Regina Warner.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Freddie A. Strout Jr., who died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, will be held Friday at noon at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME. There will be an hour of visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be in the Pittsfield Cemetery at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Neag Cancer Center in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mr. Strout is also predeceased by two sisters, Daphne and Phyllis, and two brothers, Red and Mack.
