Shirley Grace Sabin, 71, of 11 Holmes Road, died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Danbury, Conn., on Sept. 29, 1935, daughter of William and Grace Lee Andrews, she was a high school graduate.
Mrs. Sabin was employed as a nanny for many years, 20 of those years for a family in Lenox.
She attended First Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and knitting.
She was a former Girl Scout leader.
Her husband, Robert W. Sabin Sr., whom she married Oct. 15, 1955, died July 17, 1994.
She leaves two sons, Robert W. Sabin Jr. and Thomas C. Sabin, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Kathleen A. Sabin-Stracuzzi of Pittsfield; a brother, Roy Andrews of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Shirley Grace Sabin, who died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, will be conducted Monday at 11 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Dr. Robert M. Rennie, senior minister of First Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 6 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to R.N. Scholarships/Education Fund at Berkshire Medical Center, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01202.
Mrs. Sabin also leaves her son-in-law, Mark Stracuzzi, and five grandchildren, Stephanie Sabin, Christeen Stracuzzi, Nicole Stracuzzi, Shaunna Sabin and Nicholas Sabin. An infant grandson, Timothy Stracuzzi, died July 17, 1995.
