Olive M. Odierno, 87, of Melbourne Place, formerly of New Lebanon, N.Y., died yesterday at home under the care of HospiceCare in the Berkshires.
She had resided at the facility since September.
Born in Woodhaven, N.Y., on May 8, 1919, daughter of Edgar and Josephine Whittenbrink Renne, she was a graduate of Rockaway (N.J.) High School and received a nursing degree from the former Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Morris Plains, N.J.
Mrs. Odierno was first employed by the former Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital. After the birth of her children, she worked at Queens (N.Y.) General Hospital and at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, N.Y., before transferring to Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility in Uniondale, N.Y., from which she retired. She moved to New Lebanon after her retirement.
She was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in New Lebanon and volunteered at the New Lebanon Library.
She was a member of the Women's and Garden clubs of New Lebanon.
She and her husband, Alfred N. Odierno Sr., were married May 10, 1942, in Rockaway. They lived in New Lebanon for more than 30 years, moving from Valley Stream, N.Y.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Mary Jo Vestuti of Cornelius, N.C., and Catherine M. Catalano of Averill Park, N.Y.; a son, Alfred N. Odierno Jr. of Shady Side, Md.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Olive Odierno, who died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, will be Wednesday at 10:15 at HALL & HIGGINS FUNERAL HOME, 457 NY43, Stephentown, N.Y., and at 11 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 732 U.S. Route 20, New Lebanon, N.Y., where the Rev. John L. Close will celebrate a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial.
Interment will be in the Cemetery of the Evergreens. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation tomorrow from 4 to 7. Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, 369 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
Mrs. Odierno also leaves two sons-in-law, Ralph and Phillip, and a daughter-in-law, Nancy. She was predeceased by her brother, James E. Renne.
