Paul F. DuFresne Sr.

Paul F. DuFresne Sr., 69, of County Road 23, Phelps, N.Y., a native of Pittsfield, died Thursday at the Hospeace House, Naples, N.Y.

Born in Pittsfield, on Dec. 9, 1937, he was the son of Hazel Smith DuFresne and the late Raymond F. DuFresne.

He served in the Army from 1955 to 1961 and in the Seabees from 1965 to 1968, having served in Vietnam.

He retired from the New York State Thruway Authority in 1992 after 25 years of service.

Mr. DuFresne was a member of the Seeley B. Parish Post 457 American Legion of Phelps. He had resided in Phelps since 2006. He had spent his summers at the Junius Ponds Campsites in Phelps and his winters in Arizona.

In addition to his mother, of Pittsfield, he leaves three daughters, Nanette DuFresne of Clifton Springs, N.Y., Patricia Gillums of Las Vegas, and Maryann Major of Phelps; a son, Paul DuFresne Jr. of Maryland; a brother, Raymond DuFresne of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Paul F. DuFresne, who died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, will be on Saturday, Feb. 10, at DORAN FUNERAL HOME, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, N.Y., with the Deacon Robert Cyrania, officiating.

Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a funeral at 3 p.m. with full military honors. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospeace, Route 33, Naples, NY 14512. Mr. DuFresne also leaves a son-in-law, Jan Major; a daughter-in-law, Tammy DuFresne; a sister-in-law, Marion DuFresne; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Raymond F. DuFresne, who died October 1989. He is also predeceased by a grandson, Billy Major, who died November 3, 2001; and a granddaughter, Marquietta DuFresne, who died in April 1987.
