Jonathan D. Levinsky, 50, a native of Pittsfield and resident of Burlington, Vt., died yesterday of cancer.
Born in Pittsfield on March 13, 1956, son of John and Jane Levinsky of Burlington, he graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1974 and St. Michael's College in 1978.
He founded Levinsky Landscaping and Property Management in 1979 in Colchester, Vt.
He leaves his wife, the former Beth Henry, of Burlington.
In addition to his wife and parents, he leaves; two sons, Nicholas Levinsky and Jack Levinsky, both of Burlington; two brothers, Mark Levinsky of Shelburne and Peter Levinsky of St. Croix, Virgin Islands.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral of Jonathan D. Levinsky, who died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Burlington, Vt. Visiting hours will be held tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Suite 1, Colchester, VT 05446.
Mr. Levinsky also leaves a sister-in-law, Lisa and husband David Jacobs of Erie, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Brett Atwood of Essex Junction, Vt.; his wife's parents, Linora and Barry Johnson of Stowe, Vt. and Thomas Henry and partner Anne Callahan of The Villages, Fla.; nieces Sarah and Paige of Shelburne and nephews Matthew of Shelburne, and Connor and Quinn of Colorado.
Jonathan was predeceased by a sister in-law, Susan K. Levinsky, after her courageous battle with cancer in 2005. An enormous thank you goes to those dedicated employees of Levinsky Landscaping Inc. who have supported him and his family through this difficult time. Thank you to Dr. Steven Grunberg and staff, nurses on Shep 4, and the VNA for all their care and support. Lastly, a thank you to the many, many families and friends for their love, support, meals, hugs and endless well-wishes. We are so grateful.
Jonathan took great pride in making each property or project he worked on beautiful and meticulous. He most enjoyed watching his sons play hockey and baseball, hunting and trips to Las Vegas with family and friends, and family vacations in the Cape. He is most remembered for his incredible smile, friendly wave, and roadside chats while puttering in his yard.
