Patricia Anne Madzy

Patricia Anne Madzy, 60, of 120 Richard Drive, died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Hartsville, N.Y., on March 14, 1946, daughter of Edith Marshall Theall and the late Haviland Theall, she graduated from high school in White Plains, N.Y., and had been a resident of Pittsfield since 1976. She received her bachelor's degree in sociology from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, in 1968. She earned a second bachelor's degree in dance education from Skidmore College in 1978.

Mrs. Madzy was employed by Terpsichore for 14 years. She also worked for Elder Services as an information specialist for 11 years. At one time, she was employed by KB Toys and eToys Direct for several years as a merchandise coordinator.

She was a communicant of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and served on the church council as secretary and bookkeeper.

She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, travel and reading.

She and her husband, Leonard Madzy, were married in Cleveland on Sept. 1, 1968.

Besides her husband and her mother, of Nashville, Ind., she leaves a son, Harrison Madzy of Sunderland; a daughter, Sarah Kirchner of Taunton; a sister, Lois Gredy of Nashville, Ind.; and a grandson.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Patricia Anne Madzy, who died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, was a loving grandmother to Joshua Kirchner. The funeral will be Thursday at noon from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with burial services at 1 p.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church conducted by the Rev. Barnabas Fravel, pastor.

Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
