Katherine E. Pirzl, 82, of Victoria Court, Lenoir, N.C., formerly of Pittsfield, died Sunday at Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 6, 1924, she was the daughter of James F. and Helena H. Carr Curley.
Mrs. Pirzl was retired from General Electric Co.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lenoir.
Her husband, Edward F. Pirzl, died Sept. 1, 1991. They were married Jan. 7, 1956.
She leaves two daughters, Maureen Cleveland of Lenoir, N.C., and Edwina Barbis of New York City; a brother, William Curley of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Memorial services for Katherine Pirzl, who died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, will be held today at 2 p.m. at GREER-McELVEEN FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL in Lenoir, N.C. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644 or Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC 28645. Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pirzl is also survived by four grandchildren, Craig Cleveland of Leland, N.C., Melissa Thomas of Wilmington, N.C., Kathleen Cleveland and Lisa Brown, both of Hickory, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Calab Cleveland, both of Leland, N.C. She was predeceased by a brother, James Curley, and a sister, Helen Kostyun.
